Huge Book Haul!

13:36

Books, books, and more books. I seem to have gone book crazy and have ended up with a lot of new books. Subsequently I am under strict rules from my parentals not to buy any more books until after Christmas.. it's a tough life ..
Anyway, I bought some great books and I can't wait for you to see them!

Most of these books were either bought from Waterstones or ordered off Amazon.

The first book I picked up is called Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan.
The blurb -

I've left some clues for you.

If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”

At the urge of her lucky-in-love brother, sixteen-year-old Lily has left a red notebook full of dares on her favourite bookshop shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept. Curious, snarky Dash isn’t one to back down from a challenge – and the Book of Dares is the perfect distraction he’s been looking for.
As they send each other on a scavenger hunt across Manhattan, they’re falling for each other on paper. But finding out if their real selves share their on-page chemistry could be their biggest dare yet.

Next I picked up Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell after reading a book review on it.
The blurb -
Wanted: a mother
Everyone tells Sophie that she was orphaned in a shipwreck. But Sophie is convinced her mother also survived. When no one believes her, Sophie sets out to prove them wrong.
On the run from the authorities, Sophie finds Matteo - a boy who walks tightropes and lives in the sky. In a race across the rooftops of Paris, will they be able to find her mother, before it's too late?

Next up is The Manifesto On How To Be Interesting by Holly Bourne.

The blurb -
Apparently I'm boring. A nobody. But that's all about to change. Because I am starting a project. Here. Now. For myself. And if you want to come along for the ride then you're very welcome.
Bree is by no means popular. Most of the time, she hates her life, her school, her never-there parents. So she writes.
But when Bree is told she needs to stop shutting the world out and start living a life worth writing about, The Manifesto on How to be Interesting is born.
A manifesto that will change everything...
... but the question is, at what cost?

Next I bought the incredibly popular If I Stay by Gayle Forman. And in case anyone was wondering, no I haven't seen the movie yet.

The blurb -
A cold February morning...
A snowy road...
And suddenly all of Mia's choices are gone.

Except one.

As alone as she'll ever be, Mia must make the most difficult choice of all.

The Chronicles of Narmo by Caitlin Moran
The blurb -
Morag Narmo really doesn't want to go to school any more. She and her siblings would rather feed their heads into the waste-disposal unit than 'do the academical'. So they are all stunned but delighted when their parents agree to whisk them out of school and embark on a home-schooling experiment. But with five children, two unruly pets and some extremely eccentric attitudes, life soon descends into chaos.

Next I saw Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan who also wrote Dash & Lily's Book of Dares.

The blurb -
Nick & Norah are both suffering from broken hearts.
When Nick sees the girl who dumped him walk in with a new guy, he asks the strange girl next to him to be his girlfriend for the next five minutes.
Norah would do anything to avoid conversation with the not-friend girl who dumped Nick, and get over the Evil Ex whom Norah never quite broke up with. And so she agrees.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
The blurb -
Cath and Wren are identical twins and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university and Wren's decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair anymore - she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She would rather bury herself in the fanfiction she writes where there's romance far more intense than anything she's experienced in real life.
Now Cath has to decide whether she's ready to open her heart to new people and new experiences, and she's realizing that there's more to learn about love that she every thought possible...

After watching Giovanna Fletcher's 'Coffee With Gi' on YouTube, I felt a strong urge to pick up one of her book; Billy and Me.
The blurb -
Sophie May has a secret.
One that she's successfully kept for years. It's meant that she's had to give up her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop.
But then she meets the gorgeous Billy - an actor with ambitions to make it to the top. And when they fall in love, Sophie is whisked away from the comfort of her live into Billy's glamorous - but ruthless - world.
Their relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered and shared with the nation?

Solitaire by Alice Oseman
The blurb -
"I don't ever remember not being serious. As far as I'm concerned, I came out of the womb spouting cynicism and wishing for rain."
My name is Tori Spring. I like to sleep and I like to blog. Last year I had friends. Things were very different, I guess, but that's all over now.
Now there's Solitaire. And Michael Holden.
I don't know what Solitaire are trying to do.
And I don't care about Michael Holden.
I really don't.

Lastly, I picked up a book by Daniel Handler called Why We Broke Up.

The blurb -
This is the box, Ed.
Inside is everything.

Two bottle caps,
a movie ticket from Greta in the Wild,
a note from you,
a box of matches,
your protractor,
Joan's book,
the stolen sugar,
a toy truck,
those ugly earrings,
a comb from the motel,
and the rest of it.

This is it, Ed.
The whole story of why we broke up.

And with that I shall leave you!

Let me know in the comments if you have read any of these books and what you thought of them.

xoxo Ellen
